Environmentally Friendly Packaging
All we see on the news, and media outlets is how much plastic has made its way into our oceans and the detrimental effect it has on wildlife. 12.7 million tonnes of plastic EACH YEAR ends up in the ocean. That's more plastic than fish! That is truly tragic!
Find out here how The Saddle Bank tries to be as environmentally friendly as possible through reuse, reduce and recycle methods with packaging including cardboard boxes and internal plastic packaging.
How can we do our part to reduce this negative impact?
Cardboard
The Saddle Bank uses new cardboard boxes, which are fully recyclable, and made of recycled cardboard.
We do not reuse boxes that customers send saddles into us, as they are typically not new, and can become flimsy, and damaged after a few uses.
However, we do recommend that if you need to return a saddle to us, you do it in the same box we send to you [so it's a good idea to keep the box to hand, at least until your trial has ended].
Our cardboard boxes are double walled and perfect for a round trip.
Plastic
Inside the box, we use bubble wrap, air bags, and other materials made from PLASTIC!
Arghhhh.... but that's going to harm the fishies I hear you say! And, you would be quite right! However, where possible, we ALWAYS reuse 'internal packaging to reduce plastic waste.
When someone sends a saddle to us, we keep the bubble wrap, air bags, and extra internal packaging they have used, provided it is clean and still fit for purpose. This plastic packaging is then reused internally to protect the saddles when dispatched.
The internal packaging can then be reused again to send a saddle back to us if you are part exchanging, or need to return a saddle. It will then be reused again on another delivery.
Continuing Effort
We will be making an ongoing effort to further reduce our environmental impact over the coming months.
Suggestions are always welcome!
